Project Management

Since 1995 HKL has been working on logistical and community support projects across the Pacific and Asian regions. In 1998-2003 much of our focus was on procurement and distribution projects with the management of; education textbook procurement and distribution to over 4000 schools in Papua New Guinea; the procurement and distribution of school furniture to 114 schools across nine islands in the Kiribati Republic and the procurement and distribution of Health Centre medical kits to 365 remotely located Health Centres across Papua New Guinea’s 21 provinces. Each activity was designed around the promotion of community support to achieve the end goals.

More recently our Project Management skills have focused on post-Tsnami reconstruction efforts in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province, the POPS in PICS (Persistent Organic Pollutants) in (Pacific Island Countries), a project involving the clean up and safe disposal of hazardous waste from 11 Pacific Island Countries and the management of the Bali Eye Hospital in Indonesia where the coordination of equipment, technical advisors and capacity building resulted in the first eye hospital being opened in Bali in April of 2008. To this day we continue to provide a comprehensive project management role across a number of projects drawing upon technical advisers and other consultants sourced from our extensive database of experienced professionals.

Through our joint venture company RHK Project Management, we have been managing community based reconstruction projects since 1998. Our first was in the Republic of Kiribati where we managed the construction of three secondary schools resulting in intensive training of the local community in various construction skills.
In Yogyakarta following the devastating earthquake in April of 2006, we have been managing a reconstruction program with a heavy emphasis on livelihoods and community engagement.
